The SchnickSchnack

Bang On favourite, The SchnickSchnack returns to Bang On fest with their bizarro toy-pop! Learn more about the duo, Patrick and Futaba in this interview.

Tell us about The SchnickSchnack.
The SchnickSchnack is a DIY project. It’s about our live as individuals but also as a family. And we like music and drawings.

We founded The SchnickSchnack in the backyard of Schokoladen, Berlin. Futaba asked me what the word Schnickschnack means. In fact there is no good translation. So I tried to describe the meaning. And in the end we agreed that is a very good name for a band. Now we are married and playing Bang On Fest! Crazy.

What are you most looking forward to at Bang On fest?
Maybe this will be the first The Schnickschnack show of the year! We will play some new songs and we are planning to have some special guests. Lets see.

We want to have a good time. Meet nice people. Listen to cool music. <3<3<3  :*

If someone only had time to listen to one of your songs, which one would you choose and why?
Puh. I don’t know. Maybe ‘ILO ILO’. I think it is somehow a “typical“ The SchnickSchnack song. People like ‘Herr Kamelboy’ the most. Our favourite at the moment is ‘Ping Pong’. So just listen to all of them ;-)

What does “DIY” indie mean to you?
It is the possibility to do what ever you want to do. Or maybe better: to do what you think is missing. I’m interested to do things that I would like to see or hear myself. And whenever I thought something is missing, I tried to do it myself. We are humans with beautiful brains and hands. We don’t need to buy all this shit, we can do it ourselves.

What are your plans for the rest of the year?
We are going to visit our friends and family in Japan. Maybe we’ll play some shows there too. And we will bring Patrick’s parents for the first time. Very exiting!!
